Dr Imke Wiemann

Imke is a German-certified zoo and wildlife veterinarian, as well as a European Specialist in Zoo Health Management. Over the past 20 years, she has conducted a number of research projects in reproductive medicine worldwide, furthering current knowledge in conservation breeding.

Imke is a German-certified zoo and wildlife veterinarian, as well as a European Specialist in Zoo Health Management. Over the past 20 years, she has conducted a number of research projects in reproductive medicine worldwide, furthering current knowledge in conservation breeding. These projects have included unravelling key knowledge on elephant ovarian dynamics, implementing a new semen collection technique for carnivores, establishing semen cryopreservation protocols and successfully carrying out non-surgical artificial insemination in felids.

She currently works part-time as a zoo veterinarian in Germany and runs an international veterinary service specialising in zoo medicine, equine and wildlife reproduction.
