Suwan Jayasinghe is a Professor of Bioengineering at University College London, leading the work of the BioPhysics Group. His group has made several discoveries for the direct handling of living cells and embryos through novel advanced platform biotechnologies. These biotechnologies have a wide range of applications from tissue reconstruction, delivery of advanced experimental and/or medical cells and/or genes to the novel cell analysis and diagnostics, to multicellular cultures which could be used for cell expansion, disease modelling to their preservation to name a few. His work has received much press coverage via the BBC, Associated Press, Bloomberg etc and has also received many awards including the Sir George Beilby Medal of the IoM3 and the Smoluchowski Award of the GAeF.
